Calculating Length of University Service
Length of University employment is measured in months of continuous employment in a standing, fixed-term I, or fixed-term multi-year appointment from the date of last hire and includes leaves of absence and periods of layoff.(See HR-34) It will end when you leave University employment, or when you move to a wage payroll or fixed-term II appointment.
If you terminate employment with the University and are rehired after an interruption of service, the following conditions apply:
- You will be a probationary employee.
- You will not receive service credit for the period of prior employment for the purpose of increasing the vacation accumulation rate, the length of leave of absence, or other working conditions related to length of service unless provided by University policy.
- You will not receive credit for any unused sick leave from a previous period of employment.
