Designed exclusively for the Penn State community, our preferred provider option (PPO) plan offers coverage far superior to medical plans offered by most other employers.
Prescription Drug Coverage
Penn State’s unique three-tier prescription drug plan provides coverage options for all FDA-approved medications. In addition to retail pharmacies, Penn State’s prescription plan also offers two reduced-cost, mail-order options. Our University Park campus even offers the convenience of a full-service, on-site pharmacy.
Penn State’s partnership with United Concordia provides coverage for a broad range of dental services, including orthodontics.
Our vision plan provides eye examinations, conventional corrective lenses, contact lenses, and frames through a nationwide network of ophthalmologists, optometrists, and opticians. Penn State’s vision plan also offers a popular discount on LASIK eye surgery.

As a voluntary Flexible Spending Account, this benefit offers the advantage of increasing your take-home pay while also reimbursing you for out-of-pocket health care expenses. Part of your salary is set aside on a pre-tax basis, helping you save on taxes. Same salary, but more money for you.
