Payment & Registration Guidelines
Payment
You may register for Human Resource Development Center programs either online or with a printed form, such as the one in the back of the Catalog.
There are two payment options:
- Personal check (made payable to Penn State)
- Direct bill to your department
The direct bill option will require you to obtain the following information:
- Budget number
- Budget location
- Budget fund
- Encumbrance (optional)
In choosing the appropriate payment option, you are agreeing to adhere to HRDC Registration Policies.
Please Note: When choosing the direct bill payment option, a copy of your registration will be sent to your department's finance office. This will aid your finance office in paying your registration fee. Please be sure you are authorized and understand your department's policy regarding using the direct bill payment option. If your unit refuses to pay for this transaction, your registration will be cancelled. If you have any questions, please contact your Human Resource Representative.
Registration Policies
Approval: Prior to your registration, it is your responsibility to obtain any approvals required within your work unit. If you have any questions, please contact your Human Resources Representative.
Confirmation: Program registrations received by HRDC at least two weeks before each class will be confirmed by email. If you do not receive confirmation for a program, please call us to verify your registration before attending the class.
Cancellation: To help us meet program demand, please register only for programs you are sure you will attend. If you later determine that you cannot attend, please call us immediately, so we can accommodate others on the waiting list.
Unless otherwise noted, cancellation charges are as follows:

These times and charges may vary for programs such as Mastering SuperVision, Leadership Academy, Management Institute, and Office Professional Excellence.
Transfers: Depending on when the request is made, it is possible to transfer from one program section to another. The earlier you notify us of a transfer request, the better. Please contact us to request a transfer or to discuss your options.
Please Note: Transfers are only applicable within the same fiscal year. Due to work areas' financial approval policies, we are unable to honor transfers between fiscal years. Please check the date before requesting the transfer.
