Quest Diagnostics Lab Card Select Program
Penn State is partnering with Quest Diagnostics to provide a voluntary program, Lab Card Select, that will help medical plan participants and their covered dependents save money when they choose to have non-urgent laboratory testing such as blood and urine testing, cytology, pathology and cultures completed at a Quest Diagnostics facility.
Under the Lab Card Select program, participants may have their laboratory services performed at a Quest Diagnostics patient service center or they may request that the laboratory work performed through their physician’s office be sent to Quest for processing. By participating in the Lab Services Select program, plan members may save money over using a non-Quest provider.
In addition, laboratory testing through a Quest facility offers other advantages, including:
- Online scheduling to help avoid waiting in line
- Convenient locations close to campus with free parking
- Easy online access to lab results at MyQuest
Medical plan participants who are enrolled in the Penn State health plan have been sent Quest Diagnostics laboratory cards to use for their laboratory testing. In order to receive the discounted outpatient laboratory testing, it is up to the plan member to request the Quest Diagnostics Lab Card Select Program.
Plan members should share the card with their medical provider along with their insurance card, which will communicate their preference for using Quest Diagnostics. For anyone in need of replacement laboratory cards, there is a link provided in the frequently asked questions that will allow you to print a temporary card. It should also be shared when visiting a Quest Diagnostics site. There are two ways to use the card:
- Visit a Quest Diagnostics Patient Service Center for laboratory services
- Request that the physician’s office send their lab samples to Quest
In addition, employees and their family members should register on the MyQuest website, so that they may make appointments and review their tests online.
For a copy of the letter that was sent to Penn State health plan participants, and to see how to use the Lab Card Select program, please go to Penn State Quest Letter.
Participation in this program is optional. If the plan member chooses to use a facility other than Quest, the standard health plan benefit for outpatient testing will apply.
